The Gardens of Eyrignac are elegant and perfectly formed, set on the hillside with wonderful views of the beautiful countryside of Perigord. They are well known for their topiary and they do not disappoint.
There are more than 300 green sculptures created using yews, boxes and horn-beams.
The mixture of species gives different textures and shades of green to the sculptures. Planted in long avenues they give depth and formality to the garden.
In front of the Manor house is The French Garden, a classic parterre with a small perfectly manicured garden with low box hedge arabesques in the centre of the lawn and flower borders.
This garden can be reached from the house or via low wide grassy steps that lead down from the garden.
The White Garden is best visited in summer. A combination of the garden's symmetry and water features make this a restful and restorative garden to visit.
Many white roses have been planted in the beds and white climbing roses have been trained along rope hung between posts that frame the view of the countryside beyond.
There are four varieties of ground and climbing roses planted here Opalia, Fee des Neiges, Alberic Barbier and Iceberg.
Recent additions to the garden include Le Jardin des Sources that contain 50 fruit trees and Les Pres Fleuris - the wildflower meadow.
Also new are the Kitchen and Flower Garden.
These are lovely gardens to visit, allow at least 2 hours to really enjoy them.
