Worm Cafe -Tumbleweed

By: Bob Saunders

The traditional way to recycle kitchen waste is to build a compost heap in your garden.  But not everyone has the time, space or inclination to go that far.  For most it is a matter of cleanliness and convenience and compost heaps are neither.

For those with small gardens, courtyards or even apartment balconies there is a solution and its called a worm farm.  This simple invention allows just about anyone to recycle their kitchen waste and produce the most wonderfully beneficial by-product.

The nutrient rich compost that is the end product is the best tonic and fertiliser you can get for borders, vegetable gardens and pot plants.

And while the worms are busy making it they also create a liquid by-product called worm-tea which is the run-off of the water you need to give them to keep things moving along smoothly.

As it drains out it brings with it a lot of the powerful mix of minerals and good bugs so you can collect it and water it on your plants in the meantime.

Your plants will love you for it and grow to be become stronger, healthier, more disease resistant, producing more flowers or fruit as a result.

The worm farm is simplicity itself to assemble then all you need to do is to find a cool corner to position it and empty your non-meat kitchen scraps into it regularly.  Apart from giving it a sprinkling of water from the watering can every week, thats all there is to it.

For the investment you will create an endless resource of fertiliser and nutritious compost for your garden - and if you add up the savings on fertiliser purchases, well, we reckon it will pay for itself in no time.

This particular worn farm is well designed and well made and you can get spare parts for it anytime - which will encourage many to try worm composting and keep it up.

Over the years we have sold hundreds of these to customers all over Australia, with many expressing their delight once it was set up.  We reckon you can't go past that for a vote of confidence.
